Dive instructor cum Marine Biologist
Job Description:
Objective
To be the Dive instructor and assistant in all other Dive and watersport center activities
Reports To
Base-leader
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- To participate in all activities in the daily routine work of the Dive and Watersport Center
- Teaching PADI courses
- Guiding of dives
- Guiding of snorkel excursions
- Assist in Watersport activities
- Coordinate with boat crew/Milaidhoo staff for filling of the tanks
- Ensure dive tanks are full and ready to use
- Ensure all dive equipment is in a good working order and in perfect condition
- Daily cleaning of dive/snorkel and watersport equipment
- Assist in end of the day cleaning and storage of dive/snorkel and watersport equipment
- Cleaning and maintenance of dive/snorkel equipment, monthly and yearly service in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures and Maldivian law
- Update the monthly cleaning and checklist for dive equipment
- Report any failure or damage to base-leader
- Assist in handing out dive, snorkeling and watersport equipment
- Assisting in all comfort service towards The Nautilus guests, such as but not limited to assembly and disassembly of dive equipment, taking the equipment from house- reef/boat, rinsing and taking utmost care of the guests dive equipment
- Sign in Dive and watersport center guests
- To give enthusiastic marine related information as well as professional dive related information towards the guests based on demand
- Ensure safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of all the Dive and watersport center guests
- Small housekeeping tasks such as cleanliness and tidiness at the Dive center
- Any other assigned task by the base-leader
- Understands the value of constant training and pro-actively supports all training activities at The Nautilus. Commits to our environmental and ethical requirements (see separate appendix) and ensures all team likewise commit wholeheartedly
- Lives, breathes and delivers The Nautilus mission, vision and brand DNA (see separate appendix) and ensures all team follow suit
- Develop and conduct research on the relationships of organisms in the marine environment
- Monitor coral frames keep updating the guest and management
- Conduct inventories, monitoring marine life of the Nautilus reef
- Prepare marine presentations for kids and adults once a month
- Research and stay up to date with coral project techniques
WORKING CONDITIONS:
General:
- Subject to the fact that he/she may from time to time be expected to work outside normal hours in order to meet reporting deadlines and take full responsibility of the department thereby extending his/her support whenever needed.

- As a member of the department, he/she is required to set the highest standards of performance both within his department and as an example for others outside his department.

- Performance to be appraised annually or as per policy of the company
Appraiser:
- To be appraised by the immediate superior.
